How many types of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)
One of the most crucial components of your vital power infrastructure is your UPS system, and the “heart” of your UPS system are its batteries. Batteries are often forgotten, despite the fact that your UPS needs them.
Types Of UPS Batteries
Any battery you use will eventually lose some of its ability to store and transmit energy. Even if you follow all storage, upkeep, and use guidelines, regularly changing UPS batteries will eventually be required to get the most from your UPS.
Three different types of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) batteries exist:
- Acid Lead Regulated by a Valve (VRLA)
- VLA or Flooded Cell batteries
- Lithium-Ion power sources.
Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) - The most prevalent battery type used in UPS systems nowadays is VRLA. Valve regulation refers to the way gas is released from the battery. A valve will open and let the gas out of the battery if the gas pressure rises too much.
Although VRLA batteries are initially less expensive, they only have a 5-year life expectancy. Additionally, compared to flooded cell batteries, this type of battery requires less maintenance.
